About the Role

As a Technical Lead, you will be an enabler in the project team, ensuring the development team productively works towards technical delivery goals. You are responsible for maintaining high functional, non-functional, and code quality. This role requires you to be a force-multiplier, achieving success through leading, coaching, and guiding others.

Responsibilities

Analysis and Design

  • Help developers understand problems and assist with problem decomposition.
  • Provide ad-hoc consultations and pair-work to remove technical blockers.
  • Collaborate with internal and client SMEs to deliver complex data mapping solutions for migrations.
  • Specify and direct developers to reuse existing solutions and design code for future reusability.
  • Break large build items into sub-items for efficient tracking.
  • Actively understand the business domain and contribute to requirements gathering.

Development

  • Supervise technical quality through pair-work, ad-hoc reviews, code reviews, and spot-checks.
  • Provide continuous feedback to developers.
  • Support regression testing by encouraging automated and unit test writing.

SDLC and Process Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to SDLC by all developers.
  • Ensure CI builds are green or fixed immediately after breaks.
  • Allocate developer support for releases and address problems promptly.
  • Be responsible for deployment readiness and technical stage gates for production releases.
  • Actively raise risks and concerns impacting delivery or causing production issues.

Non-functional Requirements

  • Enforce correct usage of coding standards.
  • Take responsibility for non-functional requirements (usability, performance, security).

Community and Collaboration

  • Implement company-wide initiatives, development practices, and tools.
  • Participate in technical lead forums and communities to enhance development.
  • Identify weak points in systems and provide solutions.
  • Assist the Head of Development with succession planning by delegating tasks.
  • Liaise with administrators and analysts to resolve software problems.

Functional Area Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to ensure high productivity and quality on assigned projects.
  • Hold responsibility for non-functional requirements.

Requirements

Industry Knowledge

  • First-class bachelor's degree or higher and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on large-scale technology delivery projects and successfully delivering technology change.
  • Confident and able to take a lead role in a delivery-focused environment.
  • Experience working with different levels of stakeholders.
  • Expertise in the FNZ platform, technologies, and delivery methodologies (beneficial).
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced industry.
  • Hard-working, innovative, and passionate about creating solutions.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Expert in Microsoft .NET development products, including .NET, C#, and SQL Server.
  • Expert in web development, including ASP.NET, JavaScript, and ReactJS.
  • Experience with ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, and legacy .NET Framework versions (beneficial).
  • Understanding of financial products and markets.
  • Understanding of web services.
  • Familiarity with code analysis or automated testing tools.
