About the Role

Signant Health is seeking IT Business Automation Interns: college students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, who want meaningful hands-on experience in enterprise software development. This is not a shadow-and-observe internship; interns participate in real business projects alongside experienced engineers, receive structured mentorship from their first week, and contribute to development, testing, automation, and support work that real business teams rely on. The internship is designed around a student's academic life: part-time hours, a flexible schedule that accommodates college commitments, and a hybrid working model.

Internship Structure & Work Arrangement:

• Duration: 3 to 6 months.
• Hybrid Model: During the first 2 to 3 weeks, interns attend the office 2 days per week to support onboarding, training, team interaction, mentoring, and knowledge transfer. After the initial onboarding period, work is primarily remote, with occasional office attendance as needed.
• Shared Office Days: During onboarding, and for any office visits afterwards, all interns attend on the same days to maximize collaboration, mentoring, team engagement, and peer learning.

Responsibilities

• Participate in software development, testing, automation, and support activities on real business projects.
• Assist with feature development, enhancements, and bug fixes under the guidance of experienced team members.
• Collaborate with team members on assigned projects and tasks, delivering work to agreed timelines.
• Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for the features and processes you work on.
• Learn and apply software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Gain exposure to Agile development methodologies and enterprise systems, participating in team ceremonies where schedules allow.

Requirements

Essential:

• Current college student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic programming knowledge, including working knowledge of at least one scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Strong interest in software development, automation, cloud technologies, integrations, or enterprise applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn in a professional environment.
• Ability to commit approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, and to attend the office on the shared office days during the onboarding period.

Desirable:

• Academic, personal, or hackathon projects that demonstrate hands-on coding beyond coursework.
• Exposure to Git or another version control system.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (for example, GitHub Copilot or Claude Code), or an interest in AI-driven automation.
• Basic familiarity with databases, SQL, REST APIs, or cloud platform fundamentals.
