Solutions Engineer I

About the Role

At Setu, we are seeking a Solutions Engineer I who believes "Every Day is Game Day" to join our mission of enriching the world through digital commerce and financial services. This role is crucial for tackling challenges at the intersection of Setu’s products and customer requirements, engaging in meaningful technical discussions, and helping our customers thrive. Empathy is key, as many customers may not be tech-savvy due to their roots in traditional institutions.

Responsibilities

You will work on the Solutions Engineering Team, primarily assisting customers with consuming Setu’s Products. Key responsibilities include:

• Architecting: Design and structure systems, decide on optimal abstraction levels, future-proofing, patterns of component orchestration, and plan execution.
• Implementation: Write clean, readable code following common principles and patterns. Contribute from POCs to stabilizing production code, working with a broad breadth of knowledge.
• Orchestration and Integration: Interact with the larger engineering team to integrate your work into the ecosystem, help others build upon your foundation, and orchestrate your work into CI/CD, testing, QA, and automation pipelines.
• Mentorship: Share your expertise to foster synchronous growth within the team and maintain a continuous learning culture.
• Ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of services and specialized components for various projects, from prototype to production-hardened.
• Documentation: Create well-crafted technical content, architecture diagrams, samples, and training materials.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will also include:

• Engaging with customers through calls to understand requirements and assist in product usage (in-person visits if needed).
• Supporting billers in onboarding to the Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS) platform by managing technical integrations.
• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing existing frameworks and systems, and building new ones as needed.
• Creating quick prototypes or proof-of-concept projects for new features.
• Developing tailored solutions for customers whose needs extend beyond standard product scope.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will need:

• Empathy: A profoundly consultative approach, asking relevant questions to understand customer needs and motivations.
• Strong organizational skills: Managing multiple threads between different internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills: With a keen analytical mind, capable of breaking down complex scenarios to make recommendations.
• Familiarity with our tech stack:
  • Backend: Python3, Flask / FastAPI, OpenAPI, golang (optional)
  • DB: SQL, AWS Dynamo DB
  • Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, ECS), Terraform
• A burning desire to learn and develop deep fintech expertise.
