SimpleGrid is the operations platform mid-market manufacturers actually run on. Job tracking, BOM costing, routing, and QC, live on the floor. It syncs to the accounting system they already use. No ledger migration.

Most manufacturers run on fragmented tools, spreadsheets, and ERP systems too rigid to match how they actually work. SimpleGrid maps the floor as it is, then deploys in 7 to 21 days, not six months.

Built on a schema-driven, event-sourced architecture. Every action is a recorded event, so the numbers are always provable.

About the Role

As a Founding Engineer at SimpleGrid, you will build the core of the platform. You will work directly with the founding team to turn how a factory actually runs into a working system: entities, states, transitions, and the engine underneath them.

Day to day, you will design and ship features across the stack, build integrations that keep a client's ledger intact, debug and harden what already runs in production, and sit with manufacturers to understand where the work breaks. You will improve tooling, reliability, and performance as we scale into the US market.

Responsibilities

• Own problems end to end: define success metrics, design the approach, ship, and iterate quickly
• Spend time with customers: understand pain, propose solutions, validate, and deploy improvements fast
• Architect and implement core systems: services, data models, workflows, and platform primitives
• Build product surfaces: modern web experiences for review and collaboration
• Take systems to production: observability, operational maturity, performance, resilience, and scaling
• Raise the bar: set engineering standards, improve architecture over time, and help shape the team

Requirements

• 4+ years professional software engineering experience (startup / high-ownership experience is a plus)
• "Let me do it" mindset: strong ownership, bias to action, fast learner, comfortable being wrong and rewriting
• Strong system design instincts and the ability to ship real products (not just poc/mvp)
• Comfort with ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements
• Strong communication, able to explain tradeoffs to founders and customers
