Technology Apprentice

About the Program

State Street's Apprentice program is designed for individuals to gain valuable on-the-job training, both technically and professionally, with the goal of developing future leaders and technology experts. Apprentices will learn from highly qualified industry professionals and be supported by individual mentors and development programs.

This role demands attention to detail and a strong understanding of coding, design, application development, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies. Apprentices will have the opportunity to work with State Street Technology Services in our Hyderabad and Bangalore offices.

Responsibilities

As an Apprentice, you will be responsible for:

• Analyzing business and technical requirement documents.
• Contributing to application design, development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Participating actively in agile team meetings such as Stand-up calls and retrospective meetings.
• Preparing technical documentation necessary for adopted SDLC processes.
• Collaborating effectively with various internal State Street teams.
• Developing and maintaining applications using Java and SQL.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
• Understanding of Cloud Computing fundamentals (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, NaaS) and experience with AWS & Azure.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, GitHub, and Harness.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk/Dynatrace & Grafana for dashboards.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and ITIL Process (Service Now & Jira /Confluence).
• Understanding of Database, Middleware, Storage, Windows, and Unix operating environments.
• Proficiency in automation tools/languages such as R, Python, Ansible, RPA (Blue Prism), and Django for network configurations.
• Working knowledge and skills in GUI development with Java middle-tier and database back-end is desirable.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and common practices (code reviews, unit testing).
• Good understanding of SQL performance tuning techniques, including query plan understanding, SQL tracing, DB stats, and indexing techniques (highly preferred).
• Ability to manage and resolve problems on a live production system.

Qualifications

• B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA degree or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
• A strong combination of academic aptitude, analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• A commitment to individual ownership of tasks and a strong sense of accountability.
