About the Team
The App Components Team is a platform-focused product engineering team dedicated to building cohesive, high-performing building blocks for Rippling’s "Enterprise Studio" experience.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer I (Full Stack) on the App Components Team, you will design and scale the systems powering these components. While your primary focus will be on the backend, this is a truly full-stack role where you will contribute to both distributed system design and React/React Native development to deliver polished end-to-end product experiences. You will be responsible for building scalable backend services, APIs, and data models, collaborating closely with product and design to translate complexity into seamless user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Python and Golang for complex enterprise data modeling and product use cases.
- Contribute to systems operating at scale, gaining exposure to distributed systems challenges and technologies like Kafka, Flink, and AWS.
- Utilize your backend engineering strengths while also contributing to the frontend codebase, writing high-quality React and React Native code to ship end-to-end features and intuitive UI components.
- Take ownership of significant product initiatives, from initial problem definition through implementation, shaping technical designs and delivering robust solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, participate in code reviews, and uphold strong engineering standards across both backend and frontend systems.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineers to break down complex user problems and build technically sound, practically useful components for dependent teams.
Requirements
- 1+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of building production systems.
- Proficiency in building scalable backend services. Experience with Python, Django, Golang, MongoDB, and AWS is highly preferred.
- Comfortable writing and shipping production code in React and React Native, with a solid understanding of component lifecycles, state management, and mobile constraints.
- Ability to design scalable, reliable systems and reason through trade-offs such as consistency, performance, and fault tolerance.
- Experience building reusable systems, frameworks, or developer-facing components is a plus.
- A track record of independently driving projects, navigating ambiguity, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
