About the Role: Software Engineer, Developer Platform
As a Developer Platform engineer, you will directly contribute to the foundational pieces that make Notion extensible and connected. This involves building tools, APIs, and platform experiences that help customers integrate their apps, data, and workflows into one workspace. Your work will enable developers, admins, and builders to create reliable integrations and automations on top of Notion.
You will play a key role in building a robust technical foundation, making both internal platform contributions to accelerate other Notion engineering teams and developing end-user-facing functionality for toolmaking ubiquity. You will address complex technical problems, identifying and executing technical investments to ensure the long-term quality, reliability, and performance of Notion’s platform at scale.
What You'll Achieve:
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners (product, design, data science, user research) to define product strategy and drive execution from conception to maintenance.
- Evolve Developer Platform capabilities across APIs, MCP tools, and integration infrastructure to help customers automate workflows, customize Notion, and connect their tools and data.
- Contribute to the overall performance, reliability, and robustness of the Notion product, ensuring elegant scaling.
- Partner with engineering leaders to identify and execute high-leverage technical investments for the long-term flexibility and sustainability of core systems.
Skills You'll Need to Bring:
- 7+ years of experience shipping production software, with a strong track record of owning features end-to-end.
- Fluency with TypeScript across both backend and frontend.
- Strong product instincts: ability to take a vague problem, propose a solid technical approach, and manage scope effectively.
- Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI tools to work smarter and deliver better results.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience building developer tools like APIs and SDKs.
- Experience driving teams toward shared goals and balancing business priorities with individual strengths and career development.
- Familiarity with AI/agent tooling, evaluations, or LLM-driven product experiences.
Compensation and Benefits:
Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. For roles based in San Francisco or New York City, the estimated base salary range for this role is $213,000 - $320,000 per year, with the final compensation based on location, role scope, complexity, and candidate experience.
Workplace Culture:
We work from our offices in San Francisco or New York City on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days) for collaborative in-person work. While deep AI expertise isn't required for every role, intellectual curiosity and an eagerness to use AI as a collaborator are highly valued.
