About the Role

As a Software Developer - Train IT, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining diagnostic and data analysis platforms for innovative rail vehicles. You will contribute to making locomotives fit for worldwide use with your software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Define system requirements and system interface specifications for Vehicle diagnostics systems.
  • Gather, analyze, and structure software requirements, then create solution concepts and finished software architectures for data remote transmission.
  • Integrate and develop external devices for vehicle control, diagnostics management, and landside communication.
  • Implement new software for embedded systems using the Linux operating system.
  • Provide advisory support to other development engineers.
  • Support and communicate with other engineers and stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Carry out software integration and testing to ensure functionality on the vehicle.
  • Implement upgrades/new application software with end-to-end responsibility using the V-model approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, electronics, computer science, or a comparable qualification.
  • Initial experience in technical development projects.
  • Experience in structured and object-oriented software development for embedded systems in C++ and Python with the Linux operating system.
  • Basic knowledge in requirement engineering, configuration, and change request management.
  • Enjoy tackling complex problems, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a systematic and independent way of working.
  • Added advantage: Understanding standards such as IEC 50128, IEC 61131, IEC 61375.
  • Added advantage: Familiarity with TCN protocol and skilled in debugging related communication issues.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model available after an initial 6-month probation period.
  • International project exposure and collaboration with global teams.
  • Travel may be required (15-20%) depending on requirements.
