Role Summary: Full Stack Engineer Intern

The Full Stack Engineer is an entry-level (R0) practitioner who actively learns and applies engineering techniques and tooling under guidance. Working within an agile squad, the engineer delivers prescribed tasks across both backend services and frontend (UI) features, builds foundational software engineering habits, and grows rapidly through collaboration with more experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver clearly defined development tasks across backend services and frontend UI features as directed by senior engineers.
  • Write clean, readable code following team coding standards and review feedback, across both backend and frontend code.
  • Actively use foundational engineering tools — Git, pull requests, issue trackers — as part of the daily workflow.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies: stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and code reviews.
  • Raise questions early and seek guidance when blockers arise, escalating appropriately.
  • Perform unit and integration testing on own code (backend and frontend) and contribute to overall test coverage goals.
  • Document code and technical decisions to a level that supports team knowledge sharing.
  • Learn from team members and supplemental resources; apply new knowledge rapidly on the job.
  • Contribute to team continuous improvement by asking questions and following established processes.

Technical Skills & Expectations

Backend Development

  • Basic familiarity with Python and/or Node.js; able to read and modify existing scripts and service code with guidance.
  • Awareness of RESTful API concepts — understands request/response structure and can consume existing APIs.
  • Foundational SQL knowledge: able to write SELECT, INSERT, and UPDATE queries against relational databases.
  • Exposure to Git and version control workflows — branching, committing, and raising pull requests on GitHub.
  • Awareness of cloud concepts; some exposure to AWS services such as S3 or Lambda is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) within an agile/scrum environment.

Frontend (UI) Development

  • Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; able to implement UI components from designs or wireframes.
  • Basic exposure to at least one modern JavaScript framework (React or Angular preferred).
  • Ability to consume RESTful APIs from a frontend application to display or submit data.
  • Awareness of responsive design principles and basic browser debugging tools.
  • Comfortable using Git for source control within a shared UI codebase.
  • Familiarity with JSON data structures and how they are used in frontend/backend communication.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing Bachelors in Engineering/ Technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and debug code in at least one backend language (Python, Node.js, or Java) and one frontend language (JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Basic exposure to REST API design and JSON-based data exchange.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control fundamentals — branching, committing, and pull requests.
  • Exposure to HTML, CSS, and a modern JavaScript framework (React or Angular) through coursework, personal projects, bootcamps, or internships.
  • Exposure to agile/scrum concepts, gained academically, through internships, or personal projects.
  • Strong willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow in a team environment.
  • Keen to learn AI skills / tools and leverage them for development and contribute for AI native solutions.
  • Good communication skills; ability to ask clear, focused questions and articulate technical ideas.
